Senate Bill Would Ban Transgender Surgeries for Minors

A similar bill was introduced in the House of Representatives.

Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio introduced the “Protect Children’s Innocence Act”  that would ban gender reassignment surgeries for minors. The same legislation was introduced in the House by Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia.

Under the bill, any person who knowingly provided sex change surgeries, cross-sex hormones, or puberty blockers to a minor would be charged with a Class C felony. This could result in a prison sentence of 10 to 25 years or a maximum fine of $250,000.

The measure would also prohibit taxpayer funding for “gender-affirming” care and prohibit institutions of higher education from providing instruction on such intervention.

Before presenting the bill, Senator Vance said, “Under no circumstances should doctors be allowed to perform these gruesome, irreversible operations on underage children. With this legislation, we have an opportunity to save countless young Americans from a lifetime of suffering and regret. I want to thank Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene for leading on this issue, and I look forward to working with my Senate colleagues to protect children from these life-altering procedures.”

Over the past three months, ten states have passed laws to prohibit gender transition care for minors.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Senator Vance and Representative Greene as they endeavor to protect children from transgender procedures.
  • For members of the Senate and the House as they deliberate the merits of the legislation.
